The PEERS Act of 2023 would add peer support services to Medicare coverage starting January 1, 2025. Peer support services are emotional, informational, and practical support provided by certified peer support specialists who are themselves recovering from mental health or substance use disorders, designed to help patients achieve recovery and community integration.
