This bill directs the Department of Defense to conduct a comprehensive study on maternal health care access for military service members and their families covered under TRICARE, the military health system. The report must be completed within two years and submitted to Congress, examining both military hospital services and private providers in the TRICARE network to assess availability, staffing levels, wait times, travel distances, and patient satisfaction with maternal care. The analysis will also identify areas with shortages of maternity care providers, track out-of-pocket costs paid by military families over the past decade, and examine challenges that arise when pregnant service members or dependents relocate due to military orders. Based on these findings, the Department must provide recommendations and legislative proposals to address staffing shortages, improve maternal health services, and ensure continuity of prenatal and postpartum care for women moving between duty stations.
