Anyone found to engage in such conduct could have their U.S. assets frozen, be declared ineligible for visas, and be barred from entering the country, with current visas revoked immediately. The bill specifically focuses on China's United Front Work Department, which Congress describes as conducting espionage, election interference, and religious repression campaigns globally. Within 90 days of enactment, the Secretary of State must determine whether the United Front Work Department itself should be sanctioned under this law or other existing authorities. The sanctions authority under this section automatically expires on January 1, 2025, though any sanctions already imposed before that date would remain in effect.
