This bill directs the U.S. State Department to support extending the United Nations fact-finding mission investigating human rights abuses in Venezuela until the country achieves democratic reforms, including holding free elections, ending Nicolas Maduro's rule, restoring democracy, freeing political prisoners, and allowing humanitarian aid delivery. The legislation requires the U.S. to use its diplomatic voice and voting power at the United Nations to encourage international backing for the fact-finding mission and to push for additional UN action on Venezuelan human rights violations, including addressing political prisoners and humanitarian needs. The bill also requires the President and Secretary of State to review the fact-finding mission's reports and consider their findings when developing U.S. policy toward Venezuela. Within 90 days of passage and annually thereafter, the Secretary of State must report to Congress on the implementation of these actions until the fact-finding mission's mandate expires. The bill does not authorize new federal funding, as it directs existing diplomatic resources to support ongoing UN mechanisms.
