The Plain Language in Contracting Act requires federal agencies to write contract notices for small businesses in clear, simple, and accessible language that follows government plain language standards. These notices, posted on the government's central contracting website, must include keywords that help small business owners easily find and understand contract opportunities that are relevant to them. The Small Business Administration has 90 days after the bill becomes law to create rules to implement these requirements. The legislation does not authorize any new federal funding, instead directing agencies to meet these standards within their existing budgets.
