This bill creates a new Office of Young Americans within the Executive Office of the President, headed by a Director appointed by the President. The Director would serve as the principal advisor to the President on issues significantly affecting Americans ages 18 to 40, including employment, education, mental health, housing, and climate change. The Director would coordinate federal government responses to youth issues, advise on engaging young Americans in government, and sit on the Domestic Policy Council. The bill allows the Director to hire up to two full-time staff members and requires the office to submit a report within one year of enactment, and every five years thereafter, identifying major issues affecting young Americans and recommending federal responses. The Director's position would be compensated at the Executive Schedule level II salary, with an optional Associate Director at level III compensation.
