The Jobs of the Future Act of 2023 directs the Secretary of Labor and the Director of the National Science Foundation to jointly prepare reports examining how artificial intelligence will affect American workers and the job market. Within one year of the bill's enactment, these agencies must deliver both an interim and final report to Congress that identifies which industries and occupations will be most impacted by AI, analyzes which worker demographics face job displacement risks, and determines what new skills and education workers will need to succeed in an AI-driven economy. The reports must also include recommendations for helping displaced workers, expanding access to AI training programs at community colleges and minority-serving institutions, and addressing data gaps needed to study AI's workforce impact. The bill requires extensive collaboration with educators, companies, labor organizations, and other federal agencies to gather input during the report-writing process, ensuring diverse perspectives from industry leaders, community colleges, and historically underserved communities are considered.
