The Long-Term Care Transparency Act requires the federal government to gather and summarize annual reports from State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs and submit them to Congress. Currently, these programs submit reports to the federal government, but there is no requirement to compile and summarize this information for Congressional oversight. This bill directs the Assistant Secretary for Aging to collect these state reports each year and present a consolidated summary to relevant Senate and House committees, including the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and the Special Committee on Aging. The legislation aims to increase transparency and accountability in the long-term care system by ensuring Congress has regular access to data about resident complaints and facility conditions.
