This bill authorizes Congress to award a Congressional Gold Medal to Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the alliance. Stoltenberg, who previously served as Prime Minister of Norway, has led NATO since October 2014 and is credited with strengthening the alliance through increased defense spending commitments among member nations, successfully expanding NATO membership to include Finland, Sweden, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, and maintaining unprecedented unity among allies in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The medal will be designed and struck by the Secretary of the Treasury and will bear Stoltenberg's name. The Treasury Department is also authorized to produce and sell duplicate bronze versions of the medal to cover production costs, with any proceeds going back to the United States Mint. The bill enjoyed broad bipartisan support, sponsored by senators from both parties.
