The Safe and Affordable Drugs from Canada Act of 2024 would allow Americans to legally import prescription drugs from approved Canadian pharmacies for personal use. The FDA would have 180 days after the bill's passage to create regulations implementing the program and would be responsible for certifying which Canadian pharmacies meet safety standards and publishing an approved pharmacy list online. This legislation aims to reduce medication costs for American consumers by enabling them to purchase from Canadian pharmacies that typically offer lower prices than U.S. pharmacies.
