The Workforce Data Enhancement Act establishes a new grant program to help states improve how they collect, organize, and share workforce data. States and multistate consortiums can receive competitive grants to build or strengthen "statewide longitudinal data systems" that integrate information from education, workforce development, and labor market sources to better track employment outcomes and emerging job skills. The bill allocates up to 10 percent of certain workforce funding for these grants, with awards lasting no more than 3 years. Priority goes to multistate consortiums that can share data across state lines and to entities that partner with private businesses, use real-time data collection, and help workers and employers understand skills gaps. Grantees must protect privacy, continue their work after federal funding ends, and report back to the Labor Department on their progress within six months after the grant period concludes.
