This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to create and maintain a classified list of critical drugs imported into the United States, identifying which ones are manufactured abroad and tracking their supply chain information. The Secretary must complete the initial list within 180 days and update it at least every two years, with the list covering drugs that are essential to public health, drugs whose shortage would harm patients with chronic conditions, and pandemic or biodefense countermeasures. The lists will be kept confidential and shared only with national security agencies and relevant federal departments to help identify vulnerabilities in America's pharmaceutical supply chain, though the Secretary may publicly disclose which three countries supply the most imported drugs without revealing specific medication details. The bill also establishes an interagency task force within 30 days that will develop procedures for determining which drugs qualify as critical and will include representatives from defense, intelligence, health, and homeland security agencies.
