This bill requires hospitals that run medical residency training programs to collect and report detailed data about their residents starting in 2027. Hospitals must track information on residents who leave their programs early through probation, transfers, withdrawals, or dismissals, as well as data on the types of medical specialties being trained and the number of residents in each specialty. All of this data must be broken down by demographic categories including age, gender, race, and ethnicity. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services must make this data publicly available on the internet within one year of the law's enactment and then on a regular basis afterward so that patients, policymakers, and the public can see how residency programs are operating. The bill gives the Secretary of Health and Human Services authority to write the specific regulations needed to implement these data collection requirements.
