To require the Director for Homeland Security Investigations of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to conduct annual assessments on threats posed to the United States by transnational criminal organizations, and for other purposes.
This bill requires the head of Homeland Security Investigations at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to conduct annual assessments of threats posed by transnational criminal organizations to the United States. The assessments must cover major criminal organizations operating domestically and internationally, drug trafficking trends and seizure data, gang involvement in drug distribution, money laundering activities, information about widely trafficked drugs including opioids and methamphetamine, and predictions about future drug trafficking patterns. The first assessment must be completed within 180 days of the bill's enactment, with subsequent assessments due annually thereafter. The unclassified portions of these assessments will be posted publicly on the Homeland Security Investigations website, while sensitive intelligence sources and methods can be included in a classified annex. The director must also brief relevant congressional committees on the findings annually.
