The program would be administered by the U.S. Secret Service and would reimburse Cabinet members for costs like security cameras, motion sensors, door locks, and lighting installation, up to a maximum of $10,000 per person. Additionally, the bill would cover monthly recurring costs for maintaining security equipment and monitoring services, capped at $150 per month per Cabinet member. The reimbursements would be excluded from Cabinet members' taxable income, meaning they would not be subject to federal income tax. The bill applies to 17 Cabinet-level positions including the Secretaries of State, Defense, Treasury, and other major department heads, as well as the Attorney General and EPA Administrator.
