The Transparency for Student Veterans Act of 2023 requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide student veterans with more detailed information about educational institutions where they can use their education benefits. Specifically, schools must report data on veteran re-enrollment and completion rates, types of degrees and certificates earned, average time to completion, and average salaries of graduates. The bill also directs the VA to include a hyperlink to salary information databases on its website so veterans can easily compare outcomes across institutions. Within two years of the bill's enactment, the VA Secretary must work with the Education Department and other relevant federal agencies to develop agreements for sharing student outcome data. This legislation aims to help student veterans make more informed decisions about which schools to attend by providing transparent information about educational outcomes and career prospects.
