To direct the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture to submit to Congress a report on the amount of waste collected on certain Federal land along the southern border of the United States, and for other purposes.
The TRASHED Border Act directs the Interior Department and Forest Service to establish policies within 90 days to address environmental damage caused by unauthorized border crossings and encampments on federal lands along the southern border, including reducing trash accumulation and protecting wildlife habitat and archaeological resources. The bill requires these agencies to submit annual reports to Congress detailing the amount of waste collected on covered federal lands, the costs of cleanup, acres of wildlife habitat impacted, wildfires started by unauthorized activity, and suggestions for reducing environmental degradation.
