To provide for the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure that certain aviation roundtables may appoint technical representatives, and for other purposes.
The APPRISE Act directs the Federal Aviation Administration to allow aviation roundtables and communities significantly impacted by aircraft noise to appoint technical representatives or consultants to participate in the FAA's NextGen performance-based navigation implementation process. These community representatives would have the same standing and participation rights as industry and airport representatives on the working groups that develop new flight procedures. The bill applies to roundtables that either propose new flight procedures or are located within five miles of where modified flight procedures will be implemented. The FAA Administrator must submit a progress report to Congress within 180 days of the bill's enactment detailing how these requirements are being implemented. This legislation aims to give residents and local organizations a stronger voice in decisions about aircraft flight paths and noise impacts in their communities.
