This bill expands the Smith River National Recreation Area to include portions in Oregon in addition to its existing California location. The legislation designates numerous river segments in Oregon, including tributaries of the North Fork Smith River and expansions of the main Smith River and Rowdy Creek, as wild or scenic rivers under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. The bill also establishes additional protections for water features, forests, and wildlife in the expanded recreation area while allowing the Forest Service to continue wildfire management and forest health activities. Within five years of enactment, the Secretary of the Interior must complete a comprehensive study of the expanded area's ecological values and modify management plans accordingly. The bill includes provisions to protect Native American tribal rights and directs the federal government to acquire approximately 555 acres known as the Cedar Creek Parcel from Oregon with available funding.
