The Go Pack Go Act of 2024 modifies federal communications and copyright law to allow cable and satellite subscribers in thirteen rural Wisconsin counties to choose receiving broadcast signals from in-state television stations in adjacent markets instead of their local market stations. The affected counties are Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Dunn, Florence, Iron, Pierce, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix, and Washburn, which are areas that lack local broadcast stations affiliated with the major television networks. This change applies specifically to network programming and allows subscribers to elect between their local station signal, an in-state adjacent-market station signal, or both, with satellite carriers only required to provide this service where technically feasible. The legislation exempts these in-state adjacent-market retransmissions from certain regulatory requirements, including retransmission consent rules and signal limits that normally apply to cable and satellite carriers, ensuring they do not count against existing carriage restrictions.
