The Transparency in National Security Threats Act requires the Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security to provide detailed monthly reports to Congress about encounters with individuals flagged in the terrorist screening database. These reports must include information such as the number of flagged individuals encountered, their citizenship, whether they were released into the United States, their criminal history, and their detention and immigration status. Within 96 hours of each encounter with a flagged individual, relevant congressional committees must also be notified. Additionally, the agencies must publish basic statistics monthly on a public website and provide Congress with classified terror screening information and the government's list of countries of special interest. The bill takes effect upon enactment with reporting requirements beginning within 30 days.
