The legislation also establishes a $30 million annual pilot grant program to develop work-based learning positions in high-demand industries and requires institutions to provide work-study students with travel reimbursement and career coaching.
Additionally, the bill mandates that colleges conduct surveys of students, employers, and their own practices to track job satisfaction, alignment with educational goals, and program effectiveness. The Department of Education must compile these results in public reports every four years. A separate provision requires colleges to notify eligible work-study students about potential food assistance benefits through SNAP.
