This bill amends the Americans with Disabilities Act to require people claiming discrimination based on architectural barriers at public places to give business owners a 30-day notice period to fix the problem before filing a lawsuit. The notice must specifically describe the barrier and the circumstances of being denied access, including the property address and whether the barrier is permanent or temporary. If the owner or operator provides a written plan within 30 days explaining what improvements will be made, they get an additional 30 days to either remove the barrier or make substantial progress toward removal. The bill applies to civil cases involving failure to remove architectural barriers to existing public accommodations. The legislation does not require people with disabilities to provide notice if they have clear evidence that a business has stated it will not comply with accessibility requirements.
