The Building Civic Bridges Act establishes a new Office of Civic Bridgebuilding within the Corporation for National and Community Service to reduce political polarization and strengthen communities across the country. The office would administer a three-year pilot grant program that awards competitive grants to nonprofit organizations, community groups, faith-based organizations, colleges, and public institutions to fund local civic bridgebuilding projects focused on bringing divided communities together and addressing shared public needs. The office would also provide training to national service participants, support research on civic bridgebuilding effectiveness, and coordinate a national conversation about building social cohesion through shared civic work. The bill authorizes $25 million per fiscal year for 2025 through 2027 to fund the program, and requires the Comptroller General to report to Congress on the program's results within 18 months after each three-year cycle ends.
