The Reuse Excess Property Act requires federal agencies to make their data and internal guidance on excess property publicly available to reduce waste and encourage reuse across government. Within 180 days of each fiscal year's end, the General Services Administration must compile reports from agencies about excess property and publish a user-friendly summary online that includes the total dollar value of property no longer needed. Each executive agency must also publicly share its internal policies on how employees should check for and use excess property before purchasing new items, designating a responsible employee to search for available surplus property. The bill directs the Government Accountability Office to report on how often federal agencies buy products made in China, and the new requirements expire after five years. No additional funding is authorized for implementing these changes, meaning agencies must absorb the costs within their existing budgets.
