This bill requires the U.S. Postal Service to notify customers and elected officials when a post office temporarily closes or suspends operations. For planned closures, the Postal Service must provide at least 60 days' notice with information about the reason for closure, when it will reopen, and how customers will receive services during the suspension. For unplanned closures, notification must occur within 14 days. The Postal Service must distribute notices through mail, physical postings at the location, its website, social media, and email to relevant members of Congress and local government officials. Within 10 days of any temporary suspension, the Postal Service must provide replacement retail services in the same area, such as package sales and mail box access, and must continue these services until operations resume. The bill also requires status updates every three months if a closure lasts longer than six months, and it applies only to suspensions beginning after the bill is enacted.
