This bill would prohibit students arrested for antisemitic activities from receiving federal student loan forgiveness under President Biden's income-driven repayment program. The prohibition would apply even if the student has not been convicted of the charges, affecting any student arrested for antisemitic discrimination based on Jewish heritage, religion, or ethnicity anywhere in the United States. The Secretary of Education would be required to establish procedures to identify arrested students and work with law enforcement and educational institutions to enforce the restriction. Schools that knowingly fail to report antisemitic incidents by their students or provide false information could face penalties including fines and loss of federal funding. The legislation would take effect 90 days after enactment and does not include specific funding appropriations, as it modifies existing loan forgiveness eligibility criteria.
