Referred to the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection.
This bill directs the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to establish a task force within one year to coordinate the government's efforts on artificial intelligence safety and security. The task force will bring together personnel from across CISA's offices to develop guidance, identify cyber risks related to AI systems, improve secure AI design and deployment, and address workforce gaps in AI expertise. The task force must also coordinate with other federal agencies and private sector partners on AI security issues and ensure that CISA's AI initiatives meet privacy and civil rights standards. The legislation requires the task force to brief Congress every six months on its activities and progress. The task force and its requirements will automatically expire five years after the bill becomes law.
