The Taiwan Allies Fund Act authorizes $40 million annually for fiscal years 2025 through 2027 to help Taiwan strengthen its international relationships and support countries that maintain diplomatic or unofficial ties with Taiwan. The funding targets countries that have official relations with Taiwan or have deepened unofficial relations, and that face economic or political pressure from China due to those relationships. The money can be used for activities such as providing health initiatives, building civil society capacity, diversifying supply chains away from China, offering development assistance alternatives, advancing Taiwan's participation in international organizations, and providing technology infrastructure alternatives to China. The State Department, working with the U.S. Agency for International Development and other agencies, will implement the program with individual countries receiving no more than $5 million per year, and the department must report annually to Congress on the program's progress and outcomes through 2027.
