This bill would require labor unions to provide members with information about their rights under federal labor law, including a copy and summary of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act, information about religious accommodation rights regarding union dues, and details about the Supreme Court's Communications Workers v. Beck decision which addresses dues obligations. Unions would need to send this information by mail or email to new members within 30 days of joining and to all current members within one year of the law's enactment, then annually thereafter. Unions with websites must also maintain a prominent link to this information on their homepage. Union leadership would be required to certify compliance with these disclosure requirements to the Secretary of Labor within 180 days of enactment and annually thereafter. The Secretary of Labor would have 180 days to issue regulations implementing the new requirements.
