The legislation would also increase living allowances for all AmeriCorps participants to 200 percent of the federal poverty line, which would be adjusted annually for inflation starting in 2026. The bill affects AmeriCorps members and organizations that host national service programs across the country. The legislation does not specify a dollar amount for the appropriations, instead authorizing whatever funding is necessary to achieve these goals. The changes to living allowance requirements would become permanent policy, applying to all future national service programs under the National and Community Service Act of 1990.
