The legislation modifies existing conservation programs by adding livestock-related methane reduction practices as eligible activities under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and Conservation Stewardship Program, allowing farmers to receive payments for implementing practices that reduce enteric methane emissions. The bill requires the Department of Agriculture to review and update conservation standards within 180 days to support methane reduction efforts and to conduct and report on studies measuring the effectiveness of these practices over a two-year period and beyond.
