This bill directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture to establish at least 12 Regional Food and Supply Chain Resource Centers across the country to help small and medium-sized farms and agricultural businesses operate more efficiently. These centers would provide technical assistance, capacity building, grants, and coordination support to strengthen local and regional food supply chains, with at least one center specifically focused on addressing supply chain challenges faced by Indian tribes. The centers would be run through competitive grants to eligible organizations such as producer networks, food councils, universities, nonprofits, and state agencies, with each agreement lasting at least four years. The Secretary of Agriculture must report to Congress every two years on how the centers are performing and what impact they have on small and medium-sized agricultural producers. The bill also amends an existing farm program to include support for strengthening agricultural supply chains as part of the Agriculture Innovation Centers Program.
