The legislation also requires researchers to identify what barriers exist to collecting reliable data on neonatal abstinence syndrome among Medicaid beneficiaries and to document what services and supports are currently available to affected infants under state Medicaid programs. The Secretary of Health and Human Services must submit a report to Congress within three years of the bill's enactment and then make the findings publicly available online.
