This bill amends Medicare's payment system to help ensure that newer pediatric medical devices get appropriate reimbursement rates. The legislation directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish payment rates for qualifying pediatric technologies—medical devices that are FDA-approved, used primarily on children, or specifically designed for pediatric patients—when manufacturers request them through Medicare's annual rulemaking process. Manufacturers can submit requests by May 1st each year to have payment rates established that same year, or after May 1st to have them established the following year, and must provide pricing data and other relevant information to support the rate-setting process. The payment rates will take effect starting January 1, 2026, and will follow Medicare's standard payment methodology. The bill does not require Medicare to cover devices it wouldn't normally cover, and it applies only to devices that lack established Medicare payment rates.
