This bill restricts how federal grant money from the Shelter and Services Program can be used to transport migrants and asylum seekers. It requires that any jurisdiction receiving these federal grants must get written approval from local and state officials before transporting individuals to other areas, and must report quarterly to the Federal Emergency Management Agency about where transported individuals are being sent. The bill also requires that before transporting someone, jurisdictions must document that the person has a place to stay and receive support in their destination, such as through family, a sponsor, or another organization. Jurisdictions that violate these requirements would lose eligibility for future grants under the program. Additionally, the bill directs the Government Accountability Office to submit quarterly reports to Congress detailing which jurisdictions received these grants and how much funding they received.
