The evaluation must assess regulatory barriers and costs affecting nuclear component manufacturers, analyze whether current certification requirements like N-stamps are necessary, examine lessons from recent reactor construction projects, and evaluate how advanced manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing and artificial intelligence could improve efficiency and reduce costs. The bill also requires the evaluation to address how growing demand for advanced nuclear technology will impact the existing supply chain and to assess cost competitiveness of U.S.-made nuclear components compared to international alternatives. Additionally, the legislation establishes a policy goal of developing a robust domestic supply of high-assay, low enriched uranium to support energy independence and reduce reliance on foreign nuclear fuel sources.
