To direct the heads of certain agencies to review and submit to Congress a report on public-private partnerships for combating the illicit fentanyl trade, and for other purposes.
This bill requires eleven federal agencies and the intelligence community to review and report on their public-private partnerships focused on fighting illegal fentanyl trafficking. The affected agencies span national security, law enforcement, public health, and transportation, including the State Department, Treasury, Defense, Justice, Homeland Security, and the U.S. Postal Service, among others. The agencies must submit an initial report to Congress within 30 days of the bill's enactment that assesses the effectiveness of existing partnerships and identifies any gaps in their fentanyl-fighting efforts. Following the initial report, the agencies must provide updates every six months to keep Congress informed of ongoing developments. The reports can be submitted in unclassified form with optional classified annexes to protect sensitive information.
