This bill requires the Secretary of Defense to study firefighter rapid intervention teams—specialized rescue crews that respond to emergencies at military facilities—and evaluate their training standards and equipment. The study will examine what training and equipment these teams currently use across different Department of Defense locations, whether standards are consistent, and whether teams at naval and port facilities are adequately prepared for ship fires. The legislation also asks the Secretary to review firefighter injuries and deaths from the past ten years at military facilities to identify cases that might have been prevented with better training or equipment. The Secretary of Defense must submit a report to Congress with the study findings by September 30, 2025. This bill affects military firefighters and their safety protocols at Department of Defense installations nationwide.
