This bill requires the Department of Defense to disclose the maximum production rates for military equipment and weapons that can be manufactured at the same per-unit cost listed in the Pentagon's budget requests to Congress. The Secretary of Defense must include this information in annual budget materials, with an official verification of accuracy. The requirement applies immediately to major defense programs and those costing over $200 million in research and development or $920 million in procurement, beginning with the fiscal year 2025 budget request, while other military programs have until fiscal year 2026 to comply. The Pentagon can exclude this information only if military officials claim it is classified. The bill aims to give lawmakers and the public a more complete picture of defense industrial capacity when evaluating military spending proposals.
