The Child Care Infrastructure Act authorizes $10 billion in federal grants over five years (2025-2029) to help states and organizations improve child care facilities across the country. States can use the funds to acquire, construct, renovate, or improve child care centers and home-based programs, with priority given to facilities serving low-income families, infants and toddlers, rural communities, and programs operating outside traditional hours. Before distributing grants, the federal government must conduct an assessment of child care facility conditions nationwide and deliver a report to Congress within one year, with a longer-term assessment due within four years.
