This bill ensures that active-duty military members, reservists, and their families have full coverage for all contraceptives without cost-sharing through the TRICARE health insurance program. Currently, active-duty members have complete coverage, but family members and reserve component members often face copayments and other costs when obtaining prescription contraceptives outside military medical facilities. The bill eliminates these out-of-pocket costs for all FDA-approved contraceptive methods, contraceptive counseling, sterilization procedures, and related services across TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select plans. Additionally, the bill requires the Department of Defense to establish a uniform family planning education curriculum for all service members within one year and to ensure that sexual assault survivors at military medical treatment facilities receive information about and access to emergency contraception. The legislation aims to improve military readiness and the health of service members by reducing financial barriers to contraception access.
