This bill provides emergency funding to significantly expand AmeriCorps, the federal national service program, by creating at least 500,000 new service positions in fiscal year 2027. The legislation also permanently increases the living allowance for all AmeriCorps participants to 200 percent of the federal poverty line, with automatic annual adjustments for inflation going forward. The bill affects current and future AmeriCorps members across the country who participate in community service projects.
