The GRANT Reform Act of 2026 requires the federal government to increase transparency and accountability in how it distributes grant money. Starting within six months of the law's enactment and every year after, the Comptroller General must publish a public report detailing every federal grant given out, including the grant's name, purpose, dollar amount, and the name of the receiving organization. Additionally, organizations that receive federal grants must submit detailed reports within three months of completing their funded projects, breaking down how they spent the money on salaries, subcontractors, administrative costs, and materials. The Office of Management and Budget must issue guidance on these new reporting requirements within three months and notify all grant recipients of their obligations. Grant recipients who fail to submit their required reports will become ineligible for future federal grants until they comply.
