The Cybersecurity for Small Businesses Act of 2026 directs the Small Business Administration to create and share cybersecurity information and resources specifically tailored for small businesses. Working with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the SBA Administrator would help small companies strengthen their cyber defenses and adopt best practices. The bill also requires the SBA, in coordination with the Department of Defense, to provide small businesses pursuing federal contracts or subcontracts with guidance on the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program, a security standard required for many defense-related contracts. This information must be made publicly available, including on the SBA's website, and the agency must consult annually with its Office of Advocacy to refine how it distributes cybersecurity guidance. Within 90 days of enactment and every year after, the SBA must report to Congress on how many small businesses reached out with cybersecurity concerns and describe the nature of those inquiries.
