This bill amends federal property management laws to strengthen oversight of how the government uses and manages its buildings. It requires federal agencies with independent authority to lease office space to report detailed information to Congress and the Government Accountability Office, and it directs the General Services Administration to compile and submit a list of all such agencies within one year. The legislation also allows the General Services Administration to hold onto federal buildings longer if they are being used as temporary office space while other government buildings are sold or undergo major renovations, as long as this doesn't cost more than the savings from those sales or renovations and annual reports are submitted to Congress. Additionally, the bill extends the deadline for the Public Buildings Reform Board from December 31, 2026 to December 31, 2028, and ensures that board has access to all federal building data and reports collected under the property management program.
