The STORK Act would allow parents to make additional contributions to their health savings accounts when they have a baby or adopt a child. Specifically, eligible families could contribute an extra $2,000 per child born or adopted during a tax year, up to the age of 18, with married couples able to divide this amount between their accounts as they choose. The additional contribution amount would be adjusted annually for inflation after 2027, and each child would only qualify once for the additional contribution. The legislation applies to tax years beginning after December 31, 2026, and is intended to help families save for healthcare costs associated with having children.
