This bill authorizes the U.S. Treasury to mint and sell special commemorative coins honoring the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The coins would consist of up to 50,000 gold $5 coins and up to 400,000 silver $1 coins, designed to celebrate the courage and resilience of those affected by the attacks. The coins would be issued during a one-year period beginning January 1, 2027, and would preferably be minted at West Point. All surcharges from coin sales—$35 per gold coin and $10 per silver coin—would be donated to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center to support its operations and programming. The legislation requires that minting and sales result in no net cost to the federal government, with surcharges only disbursed after all production costs are recovered by the Treasury.
