H.R. 1356
The Mudslide Recovery Act establishes a federal pilot grant program to help communities repair damage caused by mudslides that occur following wildland fires. The Secretaries of the Interior and Homeland Security (through FEMA) are directed to jointly create this competitive grant program within 180 days of the bill's enactment. Eligible recipients include states, Indian tribes, local governments, fire departments, and nonprofit organizations like homeowner associations in fire-prone areas. The bill authorizes $5 million annually from fiscal years 2026 through 2032 to fund grants for communities implementing innovative solutions to address mudslide damage and recovery.
