The No IRIS Act of 2025 would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from using scientific assessments generated by its Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) program in creating new environmental regulations, enforcement actions, or permits. IRIS currently provides the EPA with toxicological data and risk assessments for chemicals that form the scientific foundation for many air quality and pollution rules. This bill would prevent the agency from relying on IRIS findings when developing environmental standards or using those assessments in tools that map or screen pollution risks. The legislation was introduced in February 2025 and referred to the House committees on Energy and Commerce, Agriculture, and Transportation and Infrastructure but contains no specified funding or implementation timeline.
